Psalm 6:9 (ESV) “The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD accepts my prayer.”
Psalm 6 is not a tidy prayer. David wrote it hurting — his bones troubled, his soul troubled, asking God “how long?” He says, “I am weary with my moaning; every night I flood my bed with tears.” This is a man crying himself to sleep, night after night, wondering if heaven was even listening.
I know those nights. The ones where you cry into your pillow and ask God if He hears you at all — if He sees you in the mess you made, in the pain you can’t fix, in the trouble you don’t know how to pray your way out of.
But watch the turn David makes at the end of the psalm. His circumstances hadn’t changed yet — what changed was his certainty: “The LORD has heard the sound of my weeping. The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD accepts my prayer.” David stopped asking whether God was listening and started declaring that He was.
Hear me: your tears are not wasted, and your prayers are not bouncing off the ceiling. The same God who heard David through his pillow heard me through mine — and He hears you through yours. You may not see the answer yet, but you have never once cried unheard.
