Romans 5:6–8 (ESV)
“For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
He didn’t wait for you to get it together.
He didn’t wait for you to stop sabotaging yourself — or to stop tearing others down. He didn’t wait for the cleaned-up, church-ready version of you.
While we were still weak. While we were still sinners. At the right time — His time — Christ died for the ungodly.
That’s the scandal of grace: He loved you at your worst, so you don’t have to earn Him at your best. You could never be good enough to deserve the cross, and you never have to be. It was finished before you ever got it right.
So stop running. Stop hiding. Stop trying to clean yourself up before you come to Him. Come as you are — He already proved what you’re worth.
