“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven.” — Luke 6:37 (ESV)
It’s easy to hold someone to the very thing we hope God will not hold against us. We replay what was said, what was done, and we carry it like it’s ours to settle. But Jesus gives us a different measure: the mercy we give is the mercy we make room to receive.
Forgiving doesn’t mean what happened was okay. It means we stop carrying what was never ours to carry. It means we hand the weight back to God and let Him be the judge, so our hands are free to hold grace instead.
If there’s someone you need to forgive today — even a little, even just in prayer — start there. And if you’re the one needing forgiveness, know this: it is already waiting for you. You only have to receive it.
Prayer: Father, help me to let go of what I’m holding against others, and help me to receive the forgiveness You freely give. Make my heart as merciful as Yours. In Jesus’ name, amen.
