Proverbs 14:5 — “An honest witness does not deceive, but a false witness pours out lies.”
A witness is someone who tells what they’ve seen. And every one of us is a witness — the question is only what we’re testifying to. A false witness pours out lies, and I know that life. I was a witness for the wrong things for years: my life testified that escape was the answer, that I couldn’t change, that God had given up on me. Every choice was a testimony, and mine was lying.
But an honest witness simply tells the truth about what they’ve seen. And what have you seen, child of God? You’ve seen grace reach into a pit and pull someone out. You’ve seen prayers answered you were afraid to pray out loud. You’ve seen the old life lose its grip. That’s your testimony. That’s what you’re a witness to now.
You don’t have to be a preacher to be a witness. You just have to be honest. When someone asks how you got through it, tell the truth: “Jesus did this.” When the old lies start pouring — “you’ll never change,” “you’re too far gone” — answer with what you’ve actually seen: a God who restores, a Savior who doesn’t flinch, a Father who runs toward prodigals.
Today, be an honest witness. Let your words, your choices, your very life testify to the truth of what God has done. Someone is watching your life and deciding whether hope is real. Tell them it is.
Prayer: Lord, make me an honest witness. Let my life testify to Your truth, not the enemy’s lies. When I speak, let it be what I’ve truly seen You do. In Jesus’ name, amen.
